This list is a few things you should check and undertake for your Summer Home Maintenance.
Clean your heat pump filters/have your heat pump serviced
We are seeing a lot of people using their heat pumps to cool their homes over the summer months, having dirty filters and an un-serviced unit means the heat pump won’t be operating efficiently costing you lots of money, so consult your manuals to clean your filters and/or contract someone to service the unit.
Check & Clear all of your gutters
Auckland still gets rain over the summer months, so having clean & clear gutters means that the water from your roof is carried easily away from your roof. Also check for any damage or leaks to your roof as well. If you are working off a ladder, follow steps to ensure your safety, more tips for working from a ladder can be found here.
Wash your home
A lot of warranties and guarantees of products we may use in a building project on our home will require regular washing, and it is best to complete this on a regular basis. Use a soft wash rather than a hard waterblast so that it won’t ruin any of your paintwork.
Wash your windows too, often the pollen from spring lands on them and can be quite sticky. Once clean, you will enjoy your view a lot more. This also includes any glass balustrades.
Check and clean your deck
During summer we spend a lot of time on our decks, clean your deck and complete any minor repairs/replacements that may be required. Don’t forget your outdoor furniture, if it’s wooden, it needs the same type of love as your deck
Waterblast Concrete areas
Summer is the perfect time to get out and clean driveway and patio areas that accumulate gunge and grime over the winter months.
Complete any Exterior Painting
Summer is the best time to complete any painting touch ups that you have been putting off, keeping on top of this will keep your home in tip top shape, and remember if you are working off a ladder, follow steps the steps above to ensure your safety. If you don’t fancy doing this yourself as it’s a larger job than you are comfortable to do, then let us know. LC have some great painters we work closely with we can recommend.
Exterior lighting
Any fixtures or bulbs of sensor/security lights, or garden feature lights that need replacing before winter
Plan for next year
Summer is a great time to start thinking about any projects you want to complete over the following year – particularly if you want to enjoy them next summer, get in touch if you would like to discuss these further.
